In 1984, Mark 1 Mortgage Corporation became a mortgage banking company.  By 1991 Mark Prather sold the company and made way for the formation of a new Mark 1 Mortgage, a residential mortgage company operating as a HUD approved correspondent and retail mortgage brokerage serving the real estate community.  As president and broker, Prather trained, supervised, and evaluated over 100 sales staff.  He then launched an aggressive training and recruiting system to continue to build a strong organization based on a foundation of character and integrity.

Furthermore, Prather has received significant media recognition as a visionary and for successfully launching a hybrid company.  He has been featured on Wall Street Journal, NSA Today, Realtor Magazine, Smartmoney.com, National Notary, Press Telegram, Inman News, and MBA Newslink.  He has also held interviews with KABC-TV, ABC, KCAL9, Ask Heloise, and KRLA.  Prather is continually committed to evolving his companies into one of southern California’s largest mortgage and real estate companies based on the philosophy of building the strongest support system for agents and offering sound financial advice to clients.

In an effort to grow and expand the company, a partnership was formed with Kimberly Rangell-Peleras and JR Clemente. Kim and JR joined Mark 1 Mortgage in June 2008 as Executive Vice Presidents of the company. Mark 1 Mortgage has been growing as a company while recruiting key Loan Officers. With over 25 years of experience, Kim and JR establish procedures and implemented controls to maintain consistent performance standards, measurements, and uniformity for processing and handling daily inquiries. They streamlined and simplified the operating procedures and functions, which increased productivity within the company. Mark 1 Mortgage strives in maintaining high standards of work performance for their staff which translates to great customer service.
